Honest review by me
When I read
the synopsis of this movie I was skeptical that this was going to be a silly
movie, then I watched it and I’m glad to tell you that this is indeed a silly
movie but in the very good way. A movie based by graphic novel with the same
title is about Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) a 22 years old musician who dated a
mysterious girl Ramona Flower (Mary Elisabeth Winstead) an American who just
moved to Toronto trying to forget her past, however the past seemed to follow
her and it forced her new boyfriend to fight it literally. Scott Pilgrim must
defeat Ramona’s seven evil exes if he wanted to continue his relationship with
her. Not an easy job because he also had some ex-girlfriend problems and the
band stuff going on around him.
There are lots of game references in
the movie, I liked watching it for nostalgia’s sake but the true power of the
movie is the humor. Edgar Wright who directed Shaun of the dead and Hot Fuzz
once again brought a fun flick that put smile on my face, he also directed The
World’s End and the upcoming Marvel movie Ant Man in 2015. Some unexpected punch line
cracked me up that literally almost had me fell out of the chair laughing. No doubt about the acting skill especially Michael Cera he's likeable and fun, Mary Elisabeth was also great you could see her as a damaged character, the rest of the cast were great too, the
fighting scene was good, the music was great, the characters and plot are believable.
It wasn’t perfect (I wasn’t expect it anyway) but it was definitely entertaining
flick and still is every time i watch it. I give it four out of five stars.
