Birth tourism is travel to another country for childbirth. Reasons for the practice include access to the destination country's healthcare system, and in countries that recognize birthright citizenship, gaining citizenship for the child.

 Slum tourism is a type of tourism that involves visiting impoverished areas. Originally focused on the slums of London and Manhattan in the 19th Century, slum tourism is now becoming increasingly prominent in developing nations, including India, Brazil, Kenya, and Indonesia.

Nautical tourism is an increasingly popular way to combine love of sailing and boating with vacation and holiday activities. First defined as an industry segment in Europe and South America, it has since caught on in the United States and the Pacific Rim.

Wellness tourism is travel for the purpose of promoting health and well-being through physical, psychological, or spiritual activities.

Justice tourism or Solidarity tourism is an ethic for travelling that holds as its central goals the creation of economic opportunities for the local community, positive cultural exchange between guest and host through one-on-one interaction, the protection of the environment, and political/historical education

 Channel hopping is a slang term used by Britons making short trips across the English Channel. It is most commonly used for trips to France, often for the purposes of a booze cruise, but may also apply to trips to other countries such as The Netherlands or Belgium.

Pop-culture tourism is the act of traveling to locations featured in literature, film, music, or any other form of popular entertainment. Also referred to as a "Location Vacation".

Dental tourism (also called dental vacations) is a subset of the sector known as medical tourism. It involves individuals seeking dental care outside of their local healthcare systems and may be accompanied by a vacation. Dental tourism is growing worldwide.

A day-tripper is a person who visits a tourist destination or visitor attraction from his/her home and returns home on the same day.
  
Escorted tours are a form of tourism in which travelers are escorted in a group to various destinations, versus a self-guided tour where the tourist is on their own
